When any artists step into the rap/hip-hop music scene they must come correct or not come at all. Recently, female emcees have been dominating on every level and have proven that not only do they have something to say but they are not going anywhere for a long time. Detroit’s finest, Kash Doll just released her latest project, “The Last Doll” but before it hit the music waves she played her album for all of her New York City supporters.

In a small and intimate gathering on November 13, Audiomack Studios NYC hosted another “Connect Event” with Kash Doll and her day ones showed up and showed out. Before Kash Doll and her team arrived, Ashley Cree, Senior Services Manager of Audiomack and curator of the event, thanked everyone for coming out and stated, “We get to hear it first. We are celebrating 10 years of being an artist and just killing it more and more each year. A lot of people can’t say that”.

The moment Kash Doll walked into the studio the crowd erupted with love and respect. Everyone was happy to see her but more importantly, was excited to hear this masterpiece that she had created. For years Kash Doll has been dominating the music scene. Her high-energy personality, slick punch lines, and iconic cadence make her stand out amongst heavy hitters in the game.

Before she hit play, Kash Doll explained that she was truly honored and appreciated everyone who came out. She went on to tell us the inspiration behind creating “The Last Doll”.

“The Last Doll” is about me growing, having kids, and becoming a woman. The inspiration came from my kids and where I am mentally. I’ve kind of outgrown the whole Doll thing. I’m going to leave that where it’s at and I’m going to move forward and be a grown A$$ MotherF*****g Woman. I aint nothing to play with. I was pregnant when I was making Kash Kommandments. I was pregnant recording that song and I got the inspiration when I found out that I was having a little girl and this is the game that I would give my daughter. We need that in life right now because the music of today, it’s not really teaching or motivating – it’s to have fun. There’s nothing wrong with that but when S**t gets real, what are you going to listen to? I like music like that for myself and there’s music that I would turn on and would get out of bed and be like I have to shake that s**t off and that’s what I am trying to bring. I have songs where I’m talking about my kids, songs talking about loving yourself, and songs where I’m poppin my s**t. It’s all just progress. I’ve been around for 10 years and that’s a long time to still be relevant to this day and sometimes I have to give myself props and grace and be grateful for where I am at now.

The Last Doll features collaborations with, Tee Grizzley, Yung Bleu, Tracy T, Tink, Shantel May, Ron E, and MDG. Now it was time for Kash Doll to hit the play button so that we could listen to the entirety of the album but the moment she stood up – it was a wrap. She rapped song for song for us, bar for bar, and vibed with us the whole night. Halfway through the project, when “Baby Boy” started playing, which is dedicated to her son,  Kash Doll started tearing up. The energy in the room slowed down and everyone understood the love that she has for her kids. This was a beautiful sight to see this raw emotion come to light. Well, moments later Kash Doll had us on a rollercoaster ride because she got back in her Birkin and gave us a lesson on loving ourselves the right way. The night ended with a “finish the lyric” game where three lucky supporters won a signed bottle of Belaire and we all danced the night away while recording a top- secret content video for “Jump”.
