Homecoming For The Culture: Celebrating Black Women in Entertainment

(NEW YORK, NY) – February 27th, 2025  S.O.B.’s, in collaboration with A Silva Lining Productions, is proud to introduce Homecoming For The Culture: a panel, party, and networking event celebrating Black women in entertainment. Taking place on Saturday, March 1st, the event will feature a panel discussion with five leading women in the industry from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by an afterparty from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with live DJs, happy hour drink specials, and networking opportunities. Come for the panel, stay for the party (or just come and party)! A portion of proceeds from the event will go towards organizations providing career development opportunities for Black women in entertainment. 


This event is open to past and present HBCU students and staff, Black fraternity and sorority members, young professionals, college students, or anyone who wants to have a good time and meet new people. Guests have the opportunity to attend the panel, the afterparty, or both.


Attendees and panelists will also receive sponsored gifts from M2U NYCMielle OrganicsVaselineHer Fantasy Box SkinIsIn LLC by Zoey, and more organizations to be announced. 


The program will begin with the first-ever TrailblazHER panel from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, a dynamic experience providing a space for cultural conversation, professional networking, and brand engagement in a high-energy atmosphere. Hosted and curated by King Silvy, the panel will feature five powerhouse women in entertainment: Dr. Garland Thomas McDavid (CEO of Brooklyn Lab Charter School), Chanel Rae (Co-Founder of Legion Media Group), Simone G. Parker (CEO of Front Page Entertainment), Jamila Mustafa (Host of MTV Fresh Out Live), and Jeanine McLean (President of MBK Entertainment). 


From 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, DJ’s CHVMELEON and Soul Sugar Joint, two of New York City’s best-known Black women DJs, will keep the energy going as attendees have the opportunity to network, dance, and enjoy happy hour drink specials. DJ CHVMELEON is a Ghanaian-American, Brooklyn-based DJ specializing in afrobeats, amapiano, rap, r&b, and hip hop. Her creative mashups have garnered millions of views across all platforms. Soul Sugar Joint, created by Brooklyn-based DJ and content curator Brooks Welsh, is a viral community known for connecting classic and modern soul, jazz, r&b, and funk.
