If you have social media, specifically Instagram, more than likely you have opened the app and spent hours scrolling through pictures and videos before you have realized what brought you there in the first place.
Well, it was a quiet Friday evening and I decided to open up my Instagram to see what was going on in the world. I saw that the Athleta New York Metro page had posted a giveaway that grabbed my attention.
It was to see the goat Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, and her Tokyo teammates perform during the Athleta Presents Gold Over America Tour at the Barclays Center on November 6th. I was so excited because Simone Biles is absolutely amazing and I wanted to see her in action. Also, these gymnasts represent so much within our culture and I knew they were going to put on a show. To enter the giveaway you had to do 3 things:
1. Share what you love most about sports
2. Tag someone that you know would love to see these Goat athletes in person
3. Make sure both of the people are following @athletanymetro
When I saw what it took to enter the giveaway I quickly wrote my response and knew I had to wait until the next day to see who got selected. On Saturday afternoon I opened my messages and right there I saw that I had WON! I was overjoyed with happiness and invited my friend Orianna, who is also a sports fanatic, to join the festivities.
As soon as we got into the arena we found an Athleta booth that was giving away free customized bags and I had to stop to get one. We had the choice to put

Because I Can
No Dream Is Too Big Or Too Small
on our bag and I selected the last saying because I could relate to it the most. I expected that the show was going to be good but during the show, I was on the edge of my seat because I literally felt like I was witnessing history right in front of my eyes. The ladies were doing things that I couldn’t even imagine doing with my body in this lifetime. They performed with elegance and beauty and I was just so honored to be graced with their presence.
My favorite part of the show is when Simone Biles spoke about her experience in Tokyo.
Biles explained, “not having my mind to body in sync in Tokyo was a very strange and odd thing. It was also really scary because gymnastics can be very dangerous at times. My advice to everyone going through anything similar in the workplace, school, or sports-related please take the Mental Health Day. I support you 100 percent. Rest and it will be just fine.
I stand with Biles and stood with her during her time in Tokyo. I am proud that she can stand up for what she believes in even in the face of adversity. I will continue to support her and her teammates and wish them the best of luck in all of their endeavors.
If you missed the tour, don’t worry because you still have a chance to see all of the magical moments that took place on stage. On Saturday, December 4th at 1:00 pm PT / 4:00 pm ET the Athleta Presents Gold Over America Tour will have a live stream where you can buy a standard admissions ticket or a live stream + VIP Chat Room + 10% off Official Tour Merchandise ticket. Until next post… Coach Tay
